Okay, let’s talk about Meg and Boyd, because their spring Nashville engagement session is one of those stories I’m going to be telling for a long time. They came in from out of state, they were fully prepared for whatever Nashville spring decided to throw at them, and they handled every single curveball with the kind of easy, laughing energy that makes my job feel less like work and more like just hanging out with really great people.
Here’s the thing about spring in Nashville: it’s stunning, it’s golden, it’s everything — and it will absolutely humble you if you’re not paying attention. Meg and Boyd found that out firsthand, and honestly? Their spring Nashville engagement session is better for it.
There was zero rain in the forecast until the day before their session. Classic Nashville. Meg and Boyd had already done their homework though; they showed up with clear umbrellas in hand, just in case. I loved them immediately for that. That’s the energy you want going into a session: prepared, flexible, and already laughing about it.
We made the call to move the session up thirty minutes the morning of to try to get ahead of the rain. And for a minute, it looked like it was going to work. Then, as spring showers in Tennessee love to do, it popped up completely out of nowhere anyway.
So there we were: me, Meg, Boyd, and a parking lot. Windows half rolled down, talking between cars, waiting it out like the world’s most adorable drive-in movie situation. I will say, there are worse places to kill thirty minutes than in a parking lot with two people who are sweet beyond belief! Those thirty minutes were genuinely so fun.
And then just like that, it passed! The sky cleared, the light came back, and we were back in business like nothing happened.
Here’s my favorite part: even after the rain was completely gone, we kept the umbrellas out. Not because we needed them, but because they were too good not to use. Clear umbrellas are a Nashville engagement session prop I didn’t know I needed in my life until Meg and Boyd showed up with them, and now I’m a full convert.
They photographed beautifully; the transparency lets the light come straight through, they add this dreamy, editorial quality to the images, and they felt like a little nod to the morning they’d just had together. A homage to the spring shower that tried its best and still couldn’t stop them.
Meg and Boyd traveled in specifically for this session and I think destination engagement sessions in Nashville are so underrated! Nashville gives you so much variety in a relatively small footprint: architecture, greenery, luscious fields, and winding paths. You can get a whole range of images in a single session without driving all over the state!
If you’re thinking about coming to Nashville for your engagement photos, spring and fall are absolutely the sweet spots. Just maybe pack a clear umbrella. You’ll thank me later!
At the end of the day, a spring Nashville engagement session isn’t about perfect weather or perfect conditions. It’s about showing up for each other; being present, being playful, and trusting the process even when it looks a little different than you planned. Meg and Boyd did all of that, and then some.
They came in from out of state, faced down a spring shower with a smile and a clear umbrella, and left with images that are genuinely, authentically theirs. That’s the whole goal. Every single time.
Meg and Boyd, thank you for being the best kind of easy. I loved every second of this session, parking lot included!
