Champions Run Golf Course Engagement Session

There are sessions where you show up as a photographer. And then there are sessions where you show up, load into a golf cart with two of the most fun people you have ever met, and spend an entire evening exploring one of the most stunning properties in all of Middle Tennessee — and leave feeling like you just made lifelong friends.

Eva and Nick’s Champions Run Golf Course engagement session in Eagleville, TN was absolutely, without question, the second one.

I have been doing this long enough to know that the sessions that feel the most personal — the ones rooted in a real place that actually means something to the couple — are almost always the ones that produce the most extraordinary galleries. And this one was no exception.

Why Champions Run Was the Perfect Location

When Eva and Nick told me they wanted to shoot their engagement session at Champions Run Golf Course, I understood immediately. This wasn’t just a pretty backdrop they found on Pinterest. This is their place.

Eva works at Champions Run managing memberships and events — she knows every corner of the property, every pathway, every spot where the light does something magical in the late afternoon. Nick helps manage the grounds — he’s the reason the course looks as stunning as it does. Together they have poured themselves into this place, and it shows in the way they move through it. Easy. At home. Completely themselves.

Champions Run is tucked out in Eagleville, Tennessee — a part of Middle Tennessee that doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves, but absolutely should. The grounds are sweeping and gorgeous, with lush fairways, beautiful landscaping, and wide open skies that turn spectacular at golden hour. It’s the kind of location that does a significant amount of the heavy lifting for you — and Eva and Nick did the rest just by showing up exactly as they are.

The Session

We shot digital all evening, moving through the property and letting the session breathe. There was no rushing, no stiffness, no “okay stand here and look at each other” energy. Just two people who are genuinely, effortlessly fun together — and a golf cart, which I am now convinced should be a standard feature of every engagement session I ever shoot.

For their second outfit we leaned into something that felt really true to their story: Eva is a serious golfer. Nick is supportive and wonderful and a very good sport about a lot of things — including being handed a golf club for portraits. 😂 The result was one of the most playful, genuine outfit setups I have captured in a long time. It told their story in a way that felt specific and real, not staged or forced.

And then there was the 35mm film.

I shot one full roll throughout the session and I have not stopped thinking about those scans since the moment I dropped the roll off. There is something about the way film renders an open green landscape at golden hour — the warmth, the grain, the way everything softens just slightly at the edges — that is genuinely impossible to replicate any other way. A blind reaction reel to those scans is coming later this week and I genuinely cannot wait for you to see them.

A Little Peek at What’s Coming

Here is the detail that makes this session even more special: Eva and Nick’s wedding reception will be held right here at Champions Run Golf Course in the spring of 2027.

That means this engagement session wasn’t just about beautiful photos. It was a preview — a first look at the place where they will celebrate one of the greatest days of their lives surrounded by the people they love most. Getting to explore this property with them now, through the lens of their engagement session, means that when we show up here again in spring of 2027 we will already know it. The light. The landscape. The corners of the course that photograph beautifully. The spots that will be perfect for portraits between the ceremony and the reception.

It is one of my absolute favorite things when couples choose to shoot their engagement session at or near their wedding venue — and getting to do it at a place this gorgeous is something I am already looking forward to more than I can say.

I want to take a second to talk about these two — because a location can be stunning and light can be perfect and film can be magic, but none of it matters if the couple isn’t genuinely wonderful. And Eva and Nick are genuinely wonderful.

They are easy and playful and warm and the kind of couple that makes every frame feel effortless. The way they laugh together, the way they move around each other — it translates through the camera in the best possible way. I rode around that golf cart with them for an entire evening and left wishing the session was twice as long.
