Nashville Engagement Session at the Parthenon and Belmont

Katie & Matt’s Nashville Engagement Session at the Parthenon and Belmont

Katie has been one of my closest friends since our early days at Franklin High School. Over the years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of being there with my camera for so many of her milestones; business anniversaries, Christmas cards, the moment Matt got down on one knee, and now this: their engagement session. And very soon, their wedding day!

To say this session was meaningful would be an understatement!

We spent a beautiful spring afternoon moving between two of Nashville’s most iconic locations — Centennial Park’s Parthenon and the beautiful Belmont University campus — shooting on both digital and two rolls of 35mm film. Katie brought four outfits (she is, without question, a fashion icon), and every single look was perfect! This session had everything: stunning spring blooms, incredible locations, genuine love, and so much laughter!

The Locations: Why the Parthenon and Belmont Are Perfect for Engagement Photos

If you’re a Nashville couple looking for engagement locations that feel both iconic and personal, you honestly can’t do better than this combination. The Parthenon and Belmont offer two completely different visual moods within just a few minutes of each other; which means your gallery has variety, depth, and that distinctive Nashville character that couples outside the city genuinely envy.

The Parthenon at Centennial Park is one of those locations that never gets old through a lens. The grand columns, the reflecting pool, the wide open green space. It photographs beautifully in any season and at any time of day. There’s a timeless, almost cinematic quality to it that pairs perfectly with both film and digital photography. As the afternoon light hit those columns during Katie and Matt’s session, it created exactly the kind of warm, glowing portraits that stop the scroll.

Belmont University’s campus offers something entirely different — lush, manicured grounds, gorgeous brick architecture, and an intimate, storybook atmosphere that makes every couple look like they belong on the cover of a magazine. The variety of architectural details and green spaces means there’s never a shortage of beautiful backdrops, no matter how many outfits you’ve brought (and yes, Katie came prepared).

Together, these two locations created a gallery with incredible range. Grand and editorial at the Parthenon. Soft and romantic at Belmont. Every image felt like its own story being told!

Film and Digital: The Best of Both Worlds

This session was captured on both digital and two rolls of 35mm film and the combination produced exactly the kind of gallery I love to deliver!

Digital gave us reliability, versatility, and the ability to capture every moment with precision. Film gave us something else entirely: warmth, grain, and that unmistakable analog quality that makes portraits feel less like photographs and more like memories!

If you’ve been on the fence about incorporating film into your engagement session, Katie and Matt’s gallery is a pretty convincing argument. The 35mm frames have a softness and depth that no edit can replicate — and they’ll look just as beautiful in 30 years as they do today.

For Nashville couples especially, a hybrid film and digital engagement session is one of the best investments you can make before your wedding day. You get a full, complete gallery from digital, and a set of truly timeless portraits on film.

Katie: A Fashion Icon, Four Outfits, Zero Notes

Let’s talk about the outfits — because they deserve their own moment.

Katie arrived to this Nashville engagement session at the Parthenon and Belmont with four complete looks, each one more stunning than the last. She has an instinctive understanding of how color, silhouette, and texture interact with both a location and a camera; it showed in every single frame.

Bringing multiple outfits to an engagement session is something I always encourage, and here’s why: each outfit creates a completely different energy and visual story within the same gallery. You’re not just changing clothes; you’re changing the mood, the feel, and the range of what your photographer can create. By the end of the session, Katie and Matt’s gallery felt like a full editorial spread, not just a single afternoon in the park.

If you’re planning your engagement session and wondering whether it’s worth the extra effort to plan multiple looks — yes. Always yes.

What’s Next: The Wedding Day

This session was a full circle moment for me and it’s not over yet. Katie and Matt’s wedding day is coming, and getting to photograph it after years of friendship, after the proposal, after this beautiful session, will be one of the greatest honors of my career.

For any couple reading this who is still in the planning stage: if your photographer is someone who truly knows you; your style, your humor, the way you look at each other — your photos will show it. There is no substitute for that kind of trust and history.

This is why I do what I do.

Plan Your Own Nashville Engagement Session

If Katie and Matt’s Nashville engagement session at the Parthenon and Belmont has you dreaming about your own session, I would absolutely love to connect! Whether you’re a Nashville local, planning a destination session in Middle Tennessee, or just starting to think about engagement photo locations — let’s talk.

I offer hybrid film and digital sessions, and I genuinely believe that the engagement session is one of the most important investments you can make before your wedding day. It’s not just about the photos; it’s about building trust with your photographer, getting comfortable in front of the camera, and creating images that will hang on your walls for the rest of your lives.

Let’s make something beautiful together!
